I earned my bachelor's in civil engineering at Valparaiso University, where I worked to tutor my peers in their academics. I helped them prepare for tests, as well as review class material and complete their homework. I've worked with students of all ages to improve their comprehension in various math, engineering, and science disciplines. My favorite subject to tutor is calculus, though I am knowledgeable in English, physics, civil and environmental engineering and other subjects. As a tutor, I encourage the student to full understand the problem and the logical processes necessary to solve it. I aim to help them fully understand the material, rather than memorize just enough to pass the next test. I use graphs, charts, facts, and figures to help students understand and solve problems. I can teach my students useful strategies and tricks that can improve their performance on standardized exams like the SAT, PSAT, and GRE. I believe that passion for a subject can be passed from instructor to students through ongoing success and accomplishments. Outside of tutoring and playing with numbers, I am a big fan of the outdoors. I love solving jigsaw puzzles, playing card games and Ultimate Frisbee, and reading science fiction.
